5 Things Good Runescape Players Must Have
5. A Runescape Account
Seriously… get one.
4. Explorer’s Ring

With the 855 things the Explorer’s Ring can do, it is a great benefit to any player. Granting an extra teleport that helps fishers and players looking to advance their Woodcutting levels by means of the Draynor Village Willows, as well as the helpful replenishing of your run power. Also, one of the cooler things it can do is grant extra runes when Runecrafting. That’s particularly helpful for those trying to profit from the skill; especially me right now, who is working diligently at advancing his Runecrafting.
3. Basic Understanding of the Grand Exchange
You should understand how it works, and have some knowledge as to prices of goods and trends. Pick a few items and follow their curves for a few weeks. Understand when is a good time to buy and sell, and use that to your advantage to profit. Even if you don’t want to waste time marching away your Runescape life, spend a couple minutes before you log on (or even once you’re playing, if you’re AFK’ing yews or something) to check prices of the choice items you’ve been following, and jot down a couple notes. Make notes of things that pique your interest and the trend. Find out approximately for how many days a stock rises and how many days it plummets. Buy low, and sell high. All it takes is a few moments of your time.
2. A Strong Money Making Skill
Be it a knack for merchanting or just a high woodcutting level, always have a way that you can make good money quickly. There’s always something to invest in, and money is good security for any player. Skills are ideal as they deliver results at a faster rate than merchanting, and frankly, the game is about the skills; not one’s merchanting prowess - though that’s not to be diminished. A few good examples are:
-Level 41 Mining with a Rune Pickaxe, to mine Iron Ore
-Level 60 Woodcutting (Ideally at least 70-75) with a Rune Hatchet to chop Yews
-Level 40 Fishing (Ideally at least 50-60) with a Lobster Pot for Lobsters
-Level 30 Smithing with a significant amount of Iron Ore and Coal to smelt Steel Bars
1. Law Runes
In my opinion the most important item in the game, the Law Rune exhibit’s a versatility unseen in many items. First of all, if making extra money appeals to you (and it should), it’s not uncommon to find people clamoring at places like Draynor Bank, offering exorbitant amounts of money for the commodity. But more importantly, the ability to teleport almost anywhere in the blink of an eye saves hours of time, and as we all know, time is one of the most important factors in Runescape. Having 100 Law Runes in your bank at all times can mean the difference between 500 Gold Ores mined from the Crafting Guild and 1000 Gold Ores mined from the Crafting Guild. It can also mean the difference between making and losing money quickly. Here’s an anecdote:
In my bank I had 150 Wines of Zamorak purchased at 1923 gp each. My idea was to sell them the next day at a slightly higher price, given the fact that they had gone up roughly 80 gp from the night before. Being that this was my first encounter with the item, and having a less than rudimentary knowledge of the Grand Exchange, I neglected to check the trends, and the next day its price fell. I held onto the wines and kept them in a safe part of my bank. About a week later, I was fishing lobsters on Karamja, and checked the price to find that it was about 1960 gp. If I had Law Runes and an Explorer’s Ring on me, I could easily have teleported to Varrock to dump my wines onto the Grand Exchange and use the ring to teleport back to Port Sarim. Sadly, I had neither, and ended up selling the wines another week later at about 1880 gp. Needless to say, the price shot up the next day to nearly 2k per wine. In any case, this story seems to demonstrate a good balance between the five things listed here.
