Are Runescape Drop Party Worlds Worth Your Time?
For those of you who don’t know, a drop party takes place in Falador’s Party Room. Everyone has the option of going to Drop Party worlds to participate.
How they go down is this: people put items that they don’t want into a chest in the east side of the room. Once someone thinks it’s got enough goodies in it, they pay 1,000 coins to pull the lever and initiate a countdown. Now, when the timer (over Party Pete’s head) hits zero, the items drop on the ground-but there’s a twist! The items are concealed in balloons, presumably to stop people going immediately for the most expensive item they see. They serve a dual purpose of making itemfinding more difficult. To get the item inside of the balloon, you have to pop it, then pick it up.
The Pros and Cons of Drop Parties
Pros:
- Sometimes, someone puts in something extremely rare or expensive. Just a few of what I’ve seen are Santa hats, Full Saradomin Armor, millions of coins, etc. The point is, you could get filthy rich off of these, with the proper luck.
- If you don’t like what’s being dropped, there are several Drop Party worlds to chose from. Just hop on over to a different one.
- Human NPCs sometimes tell you the value of the drop and how long until the balloons release when on Drop Party worlds. This is especially useful if you want to do something else, then teleport to Falador if the value of the drop is attractive to you.
- You can put any unwanted items into the chest to get rid of them. Maybe someone who has use for them will pick it up.
- Feeling generous? Put a couple thousand coins into the chest instead of giving them to a beggar.
- There are no limits as to what you can recieve each day. That’s right. You could make several million in one day, if you were determined enough.
Cons:
- More often than not, drops are what are commonly referred to as “noob drops.” These are full of junk items that are really of no use to anyone.
- When a drop is valuable, so many people cram into the party room that you should consider yourself lucky if you have a tile to yourself.
- Almost without fail, multiple people go after the same balloon. Unless you have insane clicking reflexes, this makes being the first to the balloon incredibly difficult.
- Scammers. When a drop gets valuable, they start saying things like, “Look! Auto balloon pop! Just press Alt F4!” This, of course, closes the window, making it difficult for you to get back to the party. And there are the usual scammers, of course.
- Noobish people of the beggar variety. People always flock to the party worlds, apparently thinking that since people are putting stuff in the chest, they won’t mind giving it to them. “Can i have 5k plzplzplz”, “Gimme rune scimmy plz”, and “Put in ur full zammy!” aren’t uncommon in the Drop Parties.
- Similar to the beggars, there are complainers. I don’t mean people complaining that this is the tenth drop in a row where they’ve gotten junk, mind you. People (usually very low levelled) who cluster around the chest saying, “No more noob items! Put *insert large amount of coins* in!” when they themselves are contributing nothing.
- The tiny chance that you’ll be the one to get that Saradomin Platebody (or whatever it is that you want). The miniscule possibility exists, but it’s so tiny that some people think it isn’t worth the time.
What do you think? Are Drop Parties a waste of your time? Or are they the best thing to hit RuneScape since the Godswords? Leave a comment and tell your opinion!

Party rooms are a useless waste of time its like the cassino you may win it big but the odds are you won’t.

I think your odds in the casino are better, to be honest. I’ve received a few items from the party room, nothing of insane value. A few gp, maybe some pots, an herb or two, etc.
I’ve seen some 150m+ drops though. It usually just means lag, but some people put in their bandos armor, whips, dfs, etc.
Its a fun distraction that only takes a couple of minutes.
