Common Runescape Clan Wars Terms & Strategies

There are a few terms and strategies in Runescape Clan Wars that all official clans must be familiar with. For non-official clans, or just individual players, it also helps to know these.

Hugging
When a player runs around the outside of a particular arena in Clan Wars, this is called hugging. This process allows you to catch players on opposing teams around the edges of the arena, making sure that you don’t get hit as much as well. This strategy is particularly useful when you are tanking in the Turrets arena.

Piling
Piling is when everyone in the clan attacks one specified person in the other team. Piling is very important in big wars, especially if your clan is outnumbered. The leader of the clan or someone in a similar position will call the name or level of the person to be piled (usually the lowest level), and everyone is expected to attack that person until they’re dead. This is helpful if the target is eating, as many attacks rained upon them at once will eventually kill them when they can’t eat fast enough. This strategy can prove extremely successful in the Turrets or plateau arena, as there are no one-on-one areas. In the Forest arena, this strategy is completely useless, as the whole arena is one-on-one.

Binding
Binding is also very important, as it stops the other team from hugging. Binding, as the name itself suggests, is when someone uses the spell to immobilise an opponent. This also helps in piles, as it stops the target from running or tanking.

Tanking
Commonly, a tanker is a player who has high defence and high ranged and/or mage. However, in clan wars, a tanker is a player who runs around the arena, manouevering the opponent into positions where the tanker won’t be attacked but the opponent is still liable to attacks from the tanker’s clan and/or himself. A full inventory of food is required to tank successfully, although it’s not necessary. This strategy I’ll go through more on my next guide.

Fall in
Falling in is when everyone in the clan follows one person, usually the leader. There are many ways players tell others to fall in. The most common are “fall in”, “fi” or “fallz”.

DD
“DD” stands for “death dot”. This is when everyone stands on the same spot, making it look as though there’s only one person there although there are many waiting to ambush the unsuspecting opponent. This strategy is extremely useful is you want to catch the opponent unawares. To form a DD, right click on the spot where the DD is being formed and click “walk here”.

So, that’s the end of this basic Runescape clan wars guide. Next one will get more in depth. Please leave some feedback and comments on botht he article and what you’d like to know more about.
