Find the Right Runescape Fansite for You
First of all, there is no one runescape fan-site that fits everyone and not even the needs of one person. This article will mention some of the different types of sites and which is a really good one to look out for. Here are the different types of sites (Note: I am not including real world trading, bot, private server or other illegal sites in this article): Database, Article based and Q&A.
Database: A database has all standard information about the game and is good for reading about something like the different things for castle wars or the stats of a dragon pickaxe and so on.
The Official runescape knowledge base: This is updated as soon as what it is about is put into the game and is 100% accurate. However, it does leave out stuff in many areas like rewards and details in quests, glitches, statistics, interesting points and leaked information.
The Runescape Wiki: Because anyone can add to it, it is fast to put information up and does not leave anything out. Although because anyone can edit, it is open to abuse but it is usually quickly reversed by the other users.
RuneHQ and other similar sites: This is like half way between the two mentioned above, it may not always be as fast as the wiki but it is always accurate and leaves nothing.
Article Based: Article based sites provide things that can be learned by experience like tips on player killing and whats a good way to earn money, which is really helpful in runescape.
RSHaven, the site you are on now: Now, I am saying this because I believe it has regular writers that write quality articles and every article is checked for quality and published for people to see.
Gameolosophy: You can try that but any article gets on there so you will get the good and bad ones.
Q&A: These sites provide a service to the community by answering questions thats a player wants to know so they don’t have to scan though a large amount of stuff just to find what they need.
Runescape Boards: They are quite a large Runescape forum that have a very responsive community where you can get your questions answered.
RunescapeFAQ: Not many people are aware of this site but I think it is doing such a good effort that it deserves a mention. It is a site completely devoted to answering any problem that people have in runescape within 24-48 hours but usually a lot less.
Yahoo answers and other non-runescape oriented Q&A sites: Do not use these because most of the answers are bagging runescape or incorrect. Some may be a good answer but it is not worth it. Stick with the runescape based sites.
So that is about all you need to know to find the site you need. The reason why I didn’t include forums is because the Official forum is no question the best and with the new 500 total skill minimum most runescape fans can use it. Not happy with the selection I gave? Google for runescape sites then and see how difficult it is to find good runescape sites of various types.
