Fists Of Guthix Rant

Fists of Guthix is one of the many ‘mini-games’ available on RuneScape that both Free-To-Play Members and Pay-To-Play Members are able to play. When you first hear of “Fists of Guthix” what do you think about? The first thing I think about is one of the gods of RuneScape, Guthix. Then I look at the word fists. So, we are going to play on our little characters, and there is going to be a huge Guthix, slamming his fists at you, or at least trying too, while you try to ‘kill’ him. Yeah…I have a weird imagination. But thats honestly what I first thought about. Obviously, for those of you, who have played the game, know that its nothing like that. In Fist of Guthix, the main objective is too get more charges than the other player. When you enter the game you will be in a big room full of people. These people will be doing any of the following things:

1) They will be bragging about one of their stats
2) They will be talking about someone or something
3) They will be bragging about their money and/or armor & weapons
4) They will be saying to people, “I HOPE YOU ARE MY TARGET L0lz”

and lastly they will be standing there, like zombies, not saying a word. My favorite of all, is when a low level comes in and just stands there, not knowing what to do. They just end up losing the majority of the time. You can tell when they ask so many questions. I also love it when a high level comes in. It makes it even better, when this high level is from a Members world, and they are in Free Worlds.

Next is you wait until there are enough people in this room to start a game. When you enter the game you are either A) Hunter or B) Hunted. Either way you will be playing both roles, as there are two rounds. So lets talk about the Hunter.

HUNTER

I believe that the Hunter is by far the most annoying role there is in Fists Of Guthix. The point of the Hunter is too kill your oppenont, so that they do not get more charges than you. Here is where we run in too so many problems. We have what you call, “Noob Runners” and I garauntee you will become one of these at one point or another in your Fists Of Guthix adventure. What these “Noob Runners” do, is they run around like maniacs trying to avoid you. They will run inside these little houses with green glowing doors around them, and then pop out on another. They will stand at the corner of the area and then teleport away when you come near them. They will sit in the center of the place, where by the way, you get the most charges, and will try to hide themselves in the crowd of people. By this point you will become very frustrated trying to search their name in the hundreds of other names, that you will yell out, “Noob stop running!”.

Yes, this is how it all goes down. You will find it varies at times. Sometimes the person will not run away, and sometimes they will tell you too just kill them, because people mainly use the game to level Magic, since you get free runes. Once you have killed your opponent, you will be teleported back to the starting area, where you will begin the second round of the game, not as the Hunter again, but as the Hunted.

HUNTED

The Hunted task, may or may not be hard. This is where it varies, depending on the level of your opponent. Sometimes you get a lower level, and sometimes you get a higher level. Whatever it is, you will be trying to run around, holding this rock, attracting charges, because your goal is too get as many as you can. Before I go on any further, I have to say that when you are standing there holding the rock, you are kind of bent in a way, that it looks like you are trying to use the bathroom. I love that, but back to the point. So, as being the Hunted you are going to most likely do one of the following:

1) Run in all directions
2) Hide in 1 of the four houses
3) Run far, then teleport away
4) Hide in the center, where all the people gather

Now, if you do decide to go to the center, which is probably the best choice depending on the level of your opponent, you will find that many of the people will be talking about how many charges they have. “OH I HAVE 3000!” Yes you will hear it all. They will keep on telling you as the number rises, and freak out when they find they have so much. Then they start talking about what they doing here.
“Oh, I’m just here to raise my magic man.”
“Yeah well, I’m here because I want those Earth Gloves.”
“Well, I’m here because I want those cool robes!”

So by now, you may be asking, Why is this guy writing this “rant” on Fists Of Guthix? Well the reason I’m doing it, is because I want to talk about how I feel about this game. Its not the best game ever, and you will find there are more entertaining games out there. But the thing about this game, is that yes, it can be great for training at certain levels, its great for the Runecrafting gloves, but its just so dull and boring. Its the same thing over and over again, not that any games aren’t, but I don’t feel there is anything new or exciting each round. Each round is played the same.

Hunter, kill the Hunted. Hunted, kill the Hunter. Get my charges, win or lose. Get my Guthix Tokens and my Rating. Done.

Where as, for example, Castle Wars is different each time. In Castle Wars you never know what is going too happen. Is the guy going to block my way here? Am I going to try and block the flag from taking? Are they going to attack all at once? But Fists of Guthix is not the same. But I do have to say, that I have met some players who rather enjoy the game. So my question to you guys is, do you enjoy the game Fists of Guthix or do you hate it? What are some pros and cons about the game?
