Long Journey. Part 1.
Have you ever walked across the whole Runescape world? No?
Well, I did. From Port Plasmatys down to the Hunting area in Feldir hills.
Did it take long? Yes and no. Was it fun? Definitely, it was. I got to meet some old good friends and see places long forgotten.
But let me just tell you the whole story.
It all started in Port Plasmatys where I came to smelt some gold bars of mine, as it is the best place to do it.
By the way, here I am. Alas, years took the toll. And, no, I am not the one responsible for the wreckage.
Anyway, I smelt my gold bars and suddenly realized that I haven’t eaten a good roasted bird for a while now! A friend once told me that delicious Tropical Wagtail birds inhabit lovely Feldir Hills jungle, so, naturally, I decided to go there right away. I wore my favorite robes, took my walking stick, a few handy tools and started the journey. I also decided to give presents to all polite people I meet along the way.
Me again (eager to start).
I said goodbye to Gravingas (a rebellious ghost I helped once), heard “divided we fall!” back and exited the gloomy city via the north gate. Leaving swamp on my left and Necrovarus’s Tower on the right, I trotted forward grayish farming buildings which were half covered by the morning fog.
A few words about the Tower. I spent quite a few hours there grinding dragon bones and carrying buckets with green slime up and down, worshipping an ugly Ectofuntus thingy. I tell you, my friend, don’t go there, unless you really want to raise your prayer skill as fast as you can.
The farm drew closer and I started to hear chilling voices of farm animals. Sure enough the farm was full of undead chickens and cows. And when I say ‘undead’, they really looked quite dead to me. See?
I killed (hmm…) a few and to my surprise got feathers, cow hides and raw meat. Well, meat was kind of greenish, so I threw it away, but feathers and cowhides looked normal. Yahoo!
I walked further and was glad to see some live plants for a change. My marigolds and potatoes stood proud and tall on the farming patch. However the herb was dead (maybe because it was closer to the city). I planted all these long ago and totally forgot about them (yes, in fact, I preferred other farming patches to this one). So, I left it untouched and continued my journey west.
Just as I reached boundary of some sort of graveyard I heard distance screams somewhere behind me. I stepped back and peered into the dark woods south from me. Yeah, I knew the name and I was there before. Haunted Woods was the name, vampires and leeches inhabited it. Somewhere farther south was my favorite Werewolves agility course, but I did not have a desire to cross the Woods just now.
Actually vampires were not that bad (at least they sometime dropped lvl 3 clue scrolls), but leeches… yuck… They suck your blood and lower your stats. So, no rescue parties today. I let screams continue and turned back to the graveyard.
A few crosses and rather ugly monuments stood there. I knew the trick though. You can push the monument and get into a cave full of very ugly Fenkenstrain experiments. All kind of warriors and rangers would raise their levels down there, but I found it a boring place no matter what.
So west I went, passed the Fenkenstrain castle, through the gate and on the Canifis Bridge where I was greeted by a friendly Slayer master. Mazchna was his name and he used to give me assignments for funny creatures in the Slayer Tower. Here we are.
I like this picture with Huge Mushroom in the distance and faintly Will o’ the Wisp above the bog.
Canifis. Love the quietness of this village. Love his lvl 24 habitats, who turn into lvl 88 werewolves once you touch them. And all kind of dark mystery fellows in the tavern! And huge variety of colored costumes (including ones made from werewolves fur) in the shop! This is were I earned my first big money by going into Mort’ton tombs in a search for fine cloth, so I would make splitbark armors! This is where I return over and over again to kill werewolves on my Slayer assignments.
But no time to waste. I left the village and proceeded to the mushroom field.
I do love picking up mushrooms, so this farming patch is my favorite. And look, there is a fairy ring right beside it - very convenient. This is how I come to Canifis nowadays. But not today - today I was going to use my old underground path into the free lands, just like before!
But first, I made a side trip to the Slayer Tower to pick up some colored gloves, which I could give away to people in Varrock and other big cities. So, I took north road and soon enough I was banging on the doors of the Tower, where funnies monsters abide. Crawling Hands, Banshees, Bloodvelds, Aberrant Specters. You name it.
By the way, I am especially fond of Banshees - they drop noted pure essence and a lot of good herbs. You can easily get about 100K worth of stuff from them in an hour.
A few dozen crawling hands killed and I had enough gloves, not counting two emerald rings.
I went south and west, down to the Salve River, over the Bridge and opened a trapdoor. What’s there?
