Long Journey. Part 3

See the Part 2

————————————————————

I closed the gate and looked around. Surprisingly there was no road, trees stood in front of me. Somewhere behind the trees scattered rocks laid on the ground. The largest rock was beaming with brown light. Now, have you ever seen brown light in real life…? Me neither…
Of course, it was an Earth Altar behind the trees. I’ve been inside this altar only once, when I needed to make 10 lava runes for the Swan Song quest. Air, Water and Fire Altars are much more useful for runecrafters. Naturally, I walked to the altar and made a picture.

I had to chop down a yew tree (see the stump?), so it would not obstruct the view.

I noticed people passing me heading north. I followed them and soon I heard the noise of trees being cut into pieces. Yes, there was the lumber yard and sawmill operator was wandering in front of it. I used to deal with him a lot in the early days of my house construction. Now I always send my Cook to the sawmill instead of me. She is quite a reliable servant with a bad attitude.

There was a hole in the lumber yard fence, but I decided against going in there. I’ve been there before and nearly went crazy while looking for a kitten between the crates.

I already spent too much time in the countryside – great city of Varrock was waiting for me!

I turned south, passed the Balloon landing spot and made another picture in the small square by the statue of Saradomin.

We do look alike, don’t we?

I went further south and soon reached the Eastern Gate of the city. Guards in chain mail blocked the entrance. I tried to talk to them, but it was not one of the options. I could only pickpocket or kill them. Fine. I killed them. A bow would have done nicely, as their chain mails are full of holes, but my dragon axe did the work just as well.

The guards are still alive on the picture – I am not stupid enough to give Misthalin’s king such clear evidence on the murder account.

Varrock! The greatest city of Runescape! Even Falador – shining pearl of the eastern world – is dwarfed by Misthalin’s capital. Shops, chapels, sewers, banks, gangs, smiths, kitchens, pubs, palaces, mines, and above all - people of Varrock! What a unique combination of new and experienced players! It is always fun to be there.

I walked into the city. The first building on my right was that ‘dummy’ place where I am not allowed anymore. But on my left was one of the banks – the one where all rune essence trading is conducted. I hopped in and deposited the lime stone and yew logs. Someone was shouting “Big sale 50K for all”, then “Nubs it worth more”. Someone else was “buying 1 nat!!!” Typical Varrock.

And to complete the picture all clerks in the bank turned their backs to the customers.

I proceeded down the street. Through the intersection and pass the best source of water in the city. Lowe’s Archery shop was on my left, Horvik’s Armory on my right, the Central Square right in front of me.

Central Square in Varrock is truly romantic. Poor fellow Romeo is wandering there, crying for his beloved Juliet. All kinds of Runescape love struck people come there too. Like this time, someone was asking for a girlish present. I offered my colored gloves, but they were not girlish enough.

North from the Square the road led to the Palace. Majestic trees stood on both sides of the road. All in all, very impressive entrance. This is one of those roads I use every day. But I don’t take it to visit the king of one of his famous knights. It is the road I take to check up on my tree patch. This time a beautiful willow tree was growing nicely out there.

I checked its health, leaned to the trunk and took a nap with willow song in my ears and lightness in my heart.
