My Runescape Holiday Events Rant
Every holiday season, all players, whether they’re pay-to-play or not, eagerly anticipate the newest holiday event that Jagex comes up with. Afterward, people show off their new emotes and items. But what happens when the holiday season is over?
The emotes get a pretty good use-no one gets tired of throwing snowballs or doing the bunny hop. The items are a different story. Most people rarely wear their holiday items, as they provide no bonuses to their stats whatsoever. And, since all holiday items are now untradeable, people who missed the event won’t be able to get them. So, most people’s holiday items get little to no use and just rot in the bank, or worse they find their way to Diango. Unless you’re such a high level that you don’t need a boost to any of your stats, holiday event items are merely for decorative purposes, maybe not even that.
What I’m really getting down to here is this: Why give the items out at all if no one uses them? Unless they start giving items with stat bonuses, there really isn’t a point. People won’t use them, and they can’t trade them to someone who will. My thought is that Jagex should either start making the items tradeable or giving out items with stat bonuses. I’m not asking for enormous stat bonuses, just something to make the effort of getting it worthwhile.
Until then, I guess I’ll be completing the holiday events with the fun of the quest in mind, and hope for the best in the future. What do you think? Should Jagex give out items with stat bonuses? Or do you think people are just getting a little too greedy?

Hello, yes i do think that there should be a lot more reward for the effort required to complete holiday events. Especially the Halloween event with all those webs it was very difficult and all you got was a ugly cape and a useless spider and last years emotes! (which were new to me because i just started playing about 4-5 months ago) but the point is we need better reward for our work.
