Runescape Clan Wars Guide - The Basics

Requirements
None!

What is a Runescape Clan Wars?
Clan Wars, or more commonly known among the Runescape world as “cw”, is where players gather together, make clans then challenge other clans to wars. Players of all levels come here, either as serious clan warrers with official clans or friends looking to chill out and have fun. It’s not uncommon to see a players over level 120, who have gotten bored of training and decided to relax for a while with friends at clan wars.

Where to find Clan Wars?
Clan Wars is located in level 20 wilderness.

The Portals
The white portal is a safe free-for-all area, where players can attack anyone. There’s no level limit here, and you won’t lose anything if you die.

The red portal is located right beside the white portal on the north end of the clan wars area. In here, it’s also free-for-all. However, players who die in here lose ALL of their items. If you happen to kill someone, you won’t get all of their items, sometime you won’t get any at all. Most often, all they’ll drop is either food, arrows and bones.

If you go north from the portal, you’ll eventually come upon a multi area.

The purple portal is where clans can fight each other in an all out, free-for-all brawl. I’ll go into more detail about this later, as it’s the portal with most information.

Setting up a Runescape clan war
Many clans are in the lobby of the clan wars arena.

Here, captains or generals of clans can challenge each other to clan wars.

In the setup, you can choose what kind of victory you want, whether it be a knockout victory (where the first team to kill everyone on the opposite team wins), or a killcount victory (where the first team to reach the specified number of kills wins). You can also set whether to kill everyone on the opposite team, or to just keep killing until 5 are left. Setting a time limit is self explanatory.
You can also choose if you want it to be a safe war or a dangerous one, where if you die you lose all your items.
Setting the combat rules gives you the option of disallowing food, prayer, melee, ranged, magic or potions. Keep in mind you can turn magic off, but also still allow binds at the same time.

The Arena
You can choose what kind of arena you want to have your clan war in. Each of them is unique and gives the three different combat types different advantages or disadvantages.

The classic arena gives advantages to all, as well as disadvantages. At the north and south portions of the arena, there are one on one areas where player who don’t want to get “piled” can fight opponents in a one-on-one battle, which can be good for warriors. There are also low walls behind which rangers and mages can attack the opposition. This image is also an example of a knockout war, as seen in the upper right hand corner.

The turrets arena is good for rangers and mages, and there’s no one on one arena. It’s also a good arena for “tankers”. This image is also an example of a killcount war, as seen in the upper right hand corner.

The forsaken quarry arena also has a one on one arena at the back.

The plateau arena, like the turrets, is also a completely multi arena. Mages and rangers are at a disadvantage here, as they have nothing to hide behind.

The blasted forest is a complete one-on-one arena, designed where range/mage tankers or warriors will be able to dominate without getting piled.

Hoped you enjoyed my guide. The next one will go into more detail about strategies and the such which you can use.
