Runescape Dragon Platebody, Just Looks Good?
With the recent release of the Dragon Platebody Armor in Runescape, I have been thinking; is it really worth it? The 9 million gold pieces you pay are going towards a piece of armour that can be outdone by a cheap, stronger and some may think better looking barrows platebody. The Torag and Dharok platebody are both cheaper by millions and are much stronger.
Comparison
Have a look at these stats for this piece of supposedly beastly dragon armour!
Stab: +109 Slash: +107 Crush: +97 Magic: -6 Ranged: +106 Summoning: +50
Now here is the Dharok’s Platebody’s stats, what do you think about the Dragon Platebody now?
Stab: +122 Slash: +120 Crush: +107 Magic: -6 Ranged: +132 Summoning: +60
Who Wins?
Now the Dharok’s Platebody certainly provides better defense than the Dragon Platebody but it degrades as with other Barrows Equipment. Once it hits 100 (after you get hit once with it equipped) then you’ll get your piece of armour defected so it hits 100 on a counter that slowly decreases and once hits 0 your item is useless and broken, it however may be repaired by several NPC’s such as Bob at the Axe Store in Lumbridge. At 100 I suggest to let it wear for awhile and once you feel you’re ready spend 10,000gp or so for it to be repaired to perfect condition. Please note when not in perfect condition is becomes a non-tradeable item and also that with a higher smithing level, the price to pay Bob will be lower. This is not with the popular Dragon armour piece though so it’s up to you to make this decision.
You’d rather be a beast? Or look good? In my opinion the Dragon Platebody is a huge waste of money, just get the extra 10 defense levels and buy yourself a cost efficient Dharok’s/Torag’s Platebody. That’s what you get the 10 levels for, not to waste your money on some dragon armour.
Conclusion
Hope you enjoyed my post everyone, now go ahead and sell your Dragon Platebody, get to 70 defense if you haven’t already and buy yourself some awesome Barrows Equipment!!!

One thing that the dragon platebody has for it is that it does not hamper ranging. Making it perfect for something like tanking aviansies. It is really your call
