Runescape Secrets to Power Leveling Woodcutting

If you type in “Woodcutting Guide Runescape” into that funny little box at the top of your browser, you’ll get a LOT (almost 90,000!) hits. However, looking through all those guides, you realize that they simply tell you what to cut at which level. At most, they’ll tell you you’ll need a lot of patience for this skill. A lot of times, people use these guides as motivation to raise their skills, dusting off that old axe. However, soon, they put it back down, dazzlingly bored. Let’s face it, woodcutting is not the most exciting skill to train. Imagine cutting 190,000 willows. It’s a really big task, no matter how you look at it. But there are many people that have done it. (Imagine cutting 2.9 million willows to get from level 60 to max out at 200 million experience!)

How do these people do it?!

Tips for Power leviling Your Runescape Woodcutting

1) No No-Lifing: Sure, spending 12 hours on woodcutting seems like a good idea. But, not only is that damaging to your health (Remember: Health always comes before gaming, no matter what), after that, not only are your eyes going to seem like they’re going to fall off your face, but you’ll be completely sick of the skill by then. Imagine doing the same thing tomorrow! You’re definitely not going to do THAT again, this week. Then, this week turns out to be this month, this month turns out to be this year, and then the skill is forgotten altogether.

Get A Routine

Unfortunately, due to human nature, we tend to procrastinate, unless we have a routine. Aha! You saw that! Routine!

To start with, let’s use an analogy. Unfortunately, there are some people in the world who believe personal hygiene is unnecessary. For example, the simple act of brushing your teeth. Some people “forget” to brush their teeth, for days, weeks, months on end. Then, they decide “Okay, today, I’m going to brush my teeth till they shine!” Sure, they do that. But then, the next day, the pain from brushing their teeth so hard hinders them from touching their teeth. The next day, the same scenario occurs. By the third day, they may have recovered, but they don’t want to go through that again, and they wait. And wait. And this is how people get Gingivitis.

BUT! There is a cure! Instead of grinding (another term for no-lifing) for a 12-hour session a week, why not 2 hours a day for a week? Not only will that double your experience earned in-game, but it’ll be much less grueling then a half-day session. Other benefits include: the establishment of a regular routine; doing 2 hours a day is much easier then going 12 hours continuously. Your social life will take much less of a blow; because you can do two hours after returning from a friends house, or at a friend’s house (if he plays Runescape, if he doesn’t, do something else, and save the real fun for home.)

Think about it. After 4 sessions of grinding, you’re not going to want to do it again. You’re going to dread the event like a dentists appointment. However, the 2 hour a day method is simple, even mindless! You could do it all year, if you wanted!

Assuming a person can cut 700 willows an hour;
4 sessions of 12 hours of grinding = 33600 willows = 2268000 experience. Not bad.
365 sessions of 2 hours of training = 511000 willows = 34492500 experience. Better And, as an added bonus, you’ll get to keep your eyes after this.

Listen to Music While Woodcutting

Music is quite possibly one of the best ideas on the planet. I mean, it’s sound that you enjoy. There’s good food, amazing sights, succulent tastes and smells, and great music out there, waiting for you. Set up a playlist with all your favorite songs, and listen to them! The levels fly by!

But, wait, what if your playlist is ridiculously small? Ever heard of a thing called Pandora? It’s basically a search engine for sound. You type in a song you like, and it lets you listen to songs that are acoustically similar to the song you gave in. If you like multiple songs, you can merge all of them, and you’ve got all your favorites condensed. You’ll be exposed to new music, which is great.

Thanks to I_HAVE_NO_NAME, a member on RSBoards.com, I found a convenient Pandora application that doesn’t require a browser. His post can be found here.

Surf The Web

When I woodcut, the willows generate a lot of logs before depleting. While waiting for the logs to deplete, you could post on a forum, watch a video, or play a non-CPU intensive game (more intensive games may cause Runescape to lag). Move the Runescape window so that you can see whether or not your character is still woodcutting, and when it does, just move to a new tree, and resume your other activities.

Warning: While using autos seem like a tempting offer, Jagex has recently stepped up their defenses against macroing, (post found here)and are not giving second chances. Think, is autoing really worth all the time and effort you put into your account?

Watch Movies While Grinding

Watch a movie: I recently bought the 5-disc set of Saw. While I was woodcutting, I simply moved the window to the side, and I watched all five of them (they were really good, I’d recommend them), while woodcutting. I went, almost magically, from level 60 to level 70 by the time I finished watching Saw 2. It was ridiculously easy!

Be Careful of Using Runescape Woodcutting Bots

Warning: While using autos seem like a tempting offer, Jagex has recently stepped up their defenses against macroing, (post found here) and are not giving second chances. Think, is autoing really worth all the time and effort you put into your account?

I wish you luck in your quest to achieve whatever stat in woodcutting you desire. However, I don’t think you need it now, armed with the knowledge found in this guide. A more suitable goodbye would be something like…

Have fun training Woodcutting!
