Runescape Skill Guide: Fishing (Non-Member)
Fishing is one of the most useful skills to train on Runescape, both because it gives you food to use, and fish can be worth large amounts of money. In this guide, I will give you the basic run through of the non-member Fishing skill. Runescape Fishing levelling can be broken into groups of levels that you will want to catch certain fish in.
- Levels 1-4: To begin, you must first catch shrimps with a fishing net or catch crayfish with a crayfish cage. A popular way to do this is to go to the east of Lumbridge Swamp, on the edge of the river, and catch and drop shrimp, or go east of the Lumbridge church and catch and drop crayfish.
- Levels 5-19: Once to level 5, you are able to use a fishing pole and bait to catch sardines. If you would not like to use the sardines, I recommend staying with net fishing, as if you are just going to drop the sardines, it is a waste of money used to buy the bait. Once to level 10, you can catch herring buy bait fishing. Again, if you are not going to bank the herrings, I would stick with net fishing. A nice place to go bait fishing is just outside the Draynor bank. This is useful because you can easily run to the bank and store your catches. At level 15, you can catch anchovies with your net, at any place that you could catch shrimps before.
- Levels 20-34: At level 20, you are able to use the fly fishing rod to catch trout. This requires feathers as bait. Trout can be a nice source of profit if you decide to bank them. A nice spot to catch trout is at the fishing area near Barbarian Village. At level 25, you can catch pike by river bait fishing at the fishing spot across the river from Lumbridge. Once you get to level 30, you can use fly fishing to catch salmon at any spot which you were able to catch trout before. I recommend that you bank salmon, as they are very easy to sell on the Grand Exchange, and can be used to make a lot of money.
- Levels 35-39: You are able to use the harpoon to catch tuna at level 35. An easy way to do this is using the Explorer’s Ring (3), obtained by completing the Lumbridge/Draynor Achievement Diary medium tasks. First, go to the Draynor bank, and take only 10gp, a harpoon, and your Explorer’s Ring. Take the ship to Karamja and go to the fishing spot that is on the northern side. Get a full inventory of tuna, then use the “cabbage-port” and run from the cabbage field to the Draynor bank, and repeat.
- Levels 40-49: At level 40, you can catch lobsters using a lobster pot. You can use the technique used for tuna with lobsters too, except bring a lobster pot instead of a harpoon. Lobsters are a great source of income if sold on the Grand Exchange, because they have a high price and are used by many players on PvP worlds.
- Levels 50-99: Congratulations, you now can catch every F2P fish available. At level 50, you can catch swordfish from harpoon fishing. Swordfish are also easiest to bank when using the technique stated above for catching tuna.
They are the best source of income of all the F2P fish and can make you very rich if you chose to catch and bank them.
