Running through Tutorial Island - Part One: Slaying the Dragon

Introduction
All new players know the infamous Tutorial Island. Of course, now there’s only a new player’s tutorial, but player’s who went through the Island still dub it as Tutorial island. Ever since the new “Tutorial Island” has come out, new players have been slightly confused by it, more so than the old version of the Island. In this guide, I’ll show you how to create a new character and blast through tutorial island.

Creating a new character
At first, you’ll be required to create a new character. You can change many things about your new character, including skin colour, what their clothes look like, even what they wear! If you don’t really care about what your character looks like, just click the “Preset” icon, where you’ll get a randomised character.

Sir Vant
After a brief explanation about the controls, you will be required to speak to Sir Vant, who is just north a little bit. When you speak to him, you will introduce yourself. However, Sir Vant will stop you and warn you about the Dragon that’s approaching. After a short cutscene showing the dragon incinerating Sir Vant’s squire and a goblin dropping from the roof, Sir Vant will ask you to help him.

He will then explain the situation. After a short conversation, you will be required to pick up the squire’s armour. To do this, either right-click and select “take” or left-click on the armour on the ground. After equipping it (right-click and “wield” or left-click), the Combat Styles menu will become available to you. After choosing one of the styles, attack the goblin in your first fight to the death!

The plan
After killing the goblin, Sir Vant will thank you and explain what he’s there for. He has devised a plan, but need your help to get it to work. Here’s his plan:

So now, you need to somehow lure the dragon under the correct pillar. Wow! Mission Impossible much? But wait! Sir Vant has shown his ingenuity again! He will explain that he has meat spiked with a sleeping potion in his bag, and you must put the meat in the correct bowl between the two wooden pillars.

After another few words, you’ll be able to access your Quests! Now, the quest you’re embarking on at the moment is the “Unstable Foundations” quest. The Quest journal will show all the things you have already done in the quest, and what you need to do next.

After closing the quest journal, you will be able to access the World Map. This world map will only show the Tutorial Cellar, however.

The plan in action!
Now, finally to put this plan into action! After clicking on your compass, you will be required to search Sir Vant’s bag. To do this, either use right-click and “Search” or left-click on the bag. Now, to climb over the low wall…

What?! Can’t climb over? This is disastrous! No need to fear, however! The answer to this little dilemma is right beside you. Pick up the plank on the box to your right and “use” it on the Low wall. You will construct a ramp, which your character will then proceed to climb over.

Now, let’s find that food bowl, shall we? The correct food bowl should be between the two wooden pillars on the left of your screen. “Use” your drugged meat on the Dragon’s food bowl and then return to tell Sir Vant of your success.

A short cutscene will then follow, showing the dragon eating the drugged meat and falling asleep. Talk to Sir Vant again to unravel the rest of his plan. After he tells you about it, “search” his bags once again and you’ll receive some supplies.

Now, meet up with Sir Vant again. He’ll be beside one of the wooden pillars between which the dragon is sleeping. He will tell you the rest of his plan.

Of course! That’s why he had told you to place the food between the wooden pillars! Now, “Rip” the cloth in your inventory into two pieces, and “Use” Sir Vant’s oil can on both of them.

Now, “Use” the oily rags on the two wooden pillars, then “Use” the fuse on them as well. Afterwards, talk to Sir Vant again and give him one of the tinderboxes by clicking “Use” on the Tinderbox then on Sir Vant.

After giving Sir Vant a tinderbox, “Use” the remaining one on the other wooden pillar. After you’ve set fire to it…RUN! A short cutscene will follow, where the dragon will be killed after the roof collapses on it.
