Runescape Money Making

Small Time Runescape Merchanting

One of the most common questions players ask is “How do you make money?”

Well, I just do this and that, I chop, spin, mine, fish, smith, craft, fletch, high alch, merchant, hire, fight, kill other players. So many ways… Interesting and boring, quick and long, dangerous and safe. But there is one way I like the most. It is the a small time merchanting.

Ever heard people offering 1K for a law or 2K for a molten glass?
Yes, that’s it. That’s what I do. I keep a stock of miscellaneous items like knifes and ropes, rubies and raw sharks and sell them to players when they need them urgently for quests or teleports. You may say: “How can you sell a rope for 5K? It is a rip off!”, but, hey, when the deal is closed both parties are happy. Most commonly I hear back from the buyers something like “Thank you very, very much!”
And, unlike regular Runescape merchanting, I don’t need to waste time looking for buyers – I only sell, when there is already a buyer asking! And I never haggle.

Here is the list of items I sell:

  • Law runes. Obviously, right? People would pay 1K-2K for a rune.
  • Rings of Dueling. 4-5K each. Probably the most profitable item here.
  • Molten glass. 1K-10K. Yes, there were occasions when people paid that much!
  • Game Necklaces. 1K-10K. More often now, as people use them to teleport to the Barbarian Outpost for the Barbarian Assault minigame and Agility course.
  • Magic short or long bows. 4K-10K. Usually 5K.
  • Bronze bars. 1K-10K. My favorite! Used in many quests and, yes, I sold them for 5K and 10K more than once!
  • Tiaras/amulets (air/fire/water/earth/body/mind/chaos) – 2K-5K ea.
  • Nature tiaras. 5-10K ea.
  • Rings of Life. 5-10K ea.
  • Rubies. 5-10K. They are needed for In Search of the Myreque quest.
  • Anti-Dragon shields. 1K-10K ea. Yes, I sold quite a few of them in Edgeville.
  • Rings of Forging. 3K-5K ea.
  • Ropes. 500-5000ea. No kidding, I sold a rope for 5K once.
  • Balls of wool. 1K-2K ea.
  • Green dragonhide armor sets. 10K-75K ea. Don’t get excited about 75K. It happened just once. Normally the price is 10-12K for a set.
  • Weapon poison. 5-10K ea.
  • Agility potions. 3K-5K ea. Needed for Tai Bwo Wannai Trio quest.
  • Knifes. 500-2000ea. I sold a knife for 20K at the new Barbarian Training today!
  • Soft clay. 1K-3K ea.
  • Steel Bars. 1K-2K ea. In east Falador bank for urgent constructions. Not very often though.
  • Raw sharks. 2-3K. Rarely, as it is only needed for Fremennik Trials quest and lyre enchantment.

Quite a list, huh? And I am sure there are more items like that.

So, how profitable is it, you may ask. Very profitable if you look at the prices, but, obviously, sales do not happen very often to make it the main money source. I get about 40-60K a day from small time merchanting on average. But what is more important - it is a FUN way to make money!

So, when people ask me, how I earn money in Runescape, I say “selling bronze bars” and laugh.

Recently added one more small merchanting item to my list: teletabs. I sell 3-5 of them every day for 3-6K each.
